Meditation, Mindfulness, and the Craving Mind

Saturday, Mar 14, 10:00am-2:00pm

Cost $105

In Buddhism, the third noble truth is that desire or craving causes suffering. Our habitual, unconscious patterns, driven by craving, lead us to self-inflicted misery.

Borrowing from Judson Brewer’s book The Craving Mind, we will explore the physiology and psychology of addiction, and discusses how the Buddhist concept of dependent origination could be seen as an early description of how we get addicted.

We will do guided meditations that help us cultivate the awareness and mental discipline needed to free ourselves from our habitual patterns. Our lunch will be a chance to practice one of the skills of mindfulness.
